Taking care of your area rug will help to extend its life and keep it looking new and fresh for as long as possible. We recommend the general care instructions for your rugs, however specific care instructions differ based on the construction and materials of your rug, and can be found on the product page. You should always defer to these instructions when taking care of your rug.
- Most rugs can be vacuumed, with the exception of natural fiber rugs such as cotton, Jute, or Silk. Outdoor rugs should be washed with water.
- If your rug can be vacuumed, use the lowest setting to prevent fibers from being pulled from the rug’s backing.
- Avoid pulling out fibers that appear from the top of the rug. Instead, take a scissor and cut them as close to the surface as possible.
- Vacuum underneath your rug from time to time, especially if you own a natural fiber rug.
- Immediately clean up spills by blotting the area with a white cloth and avoid rubbing, which may push a stain deeper into the rug.
- Rotate your rug regularly to make sure wear and tear is even.
- Do your best to avoid exposing your rugs to continuous and direct sunlight as this will cause the rug’s colors to fade over time.
- If your rug is in need of a deep cleaning, we recommend a professional cleaning service. Always check with your dry cleaner to ensure harsh chemicals are not used.
It is best to clean spills from your rug as soon as they happen in order to avoid any staining or permanent rug damage. Use a clean, white cloth, and avoid rubbing the stain so you do not allow it to sink in more deeply. For a deeper clean a professional cleaning service is your best bet. Keep in mind that specific care instructions differ based on the construction and materials of your rug, and can be found on the product page of your rug. You should always defer to these instructions when taking care of your rug.
The best way to avoid shedding is to vacuum your area rug on a low setting going with the grain to minimize damage. Moving your rug to a low traffic area is also better for your rug along with using a rug pad. Also, remember that shedding for a few months is normal on many rug types and is not a sign of a defective rug.
SHOULD I ROTATE MY RUG?
It’s always a good idea to rotate your rug every 6 months so you can ensure that it will wear evenly.
MY RUG HAS A BIT OF A SMELL, WILL THIS GO AWAY?
Sometimes a rug may have a certain odor once unwrapped, but the good new is it will dissipate within a few days or weeks at most. The smell is non-toxic and is likely because the rug has been wrapped up in packaging and has not yet had a chance to air out.
DO I NEED TO USE A RUG PAD?
We recommend using a rug pad since a rug pad helps to keep it in place and stay flat to the floor. It also keep the rug from slipping or wrinkling, making it safer and making your home look that much more polished.
SHOULD I HAVE MY AREA RUG PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED?
You should always check the care instructions for your specific rug. Chances are that your rug will not need frequent cleaning, even with heavy use. Many people have their rug professionally cleaned once a year, however depending on the traffic some people clean their rugs every 2-3 years.
MY AREA RUG IS FADING, WHAT CAN I DO?
Muting of color over time is natural for your area rug, especially if it receives a lot of direct sunlight. Rotating your rug, especially if it is partially underneath furniture, will help to keep the color even. Drawing your shades during the day may also help to keep your rug from fading over time.
Yes, the size dimensions listed in the 'specifications' section on the product page are correct. Please see our handy rug guide for help knowing which size rug will work in your room, or chat/call one of our agents for more information.
Yes. The colors of rugs on the Wovenly website are accurate, but keep in mind that some variations in colors may occur. In addition, the colors you see can be impacted by different desktop/mobile screen resolutions, so we recommend turning off any settings that may impact brightness. Turn brightness up to see true color of the rug. Additionally, there is always the chance that there will be slight variations in color as each rug is uniquely made.
IS IT OKAY TO USE MULTIPLE AREA RUGS IN THE SAME ROOM?
Definitely. Whether you’re interested in a mismatched look or wanting something more traditional and matching, multiple area rugs can give your space a cozier, inviting feel. Layered rugs is a fun trending look right now as well. Feel free to try two or three or more rugs in the same room and have fun creating your unique style.
SHOULD I BUY A RUG MADE OF NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC FIBERS?
Whether you should choose a natural or synthetic fiber rug depends on your unique wants and personal needs. Synthetic fibers are highly durable and excellent at resisting stains and can be great for high-traffic areas. On the other hand, natural fiber rugs such as wool and cotton are very durable, come in a variety of vibrant colors, maintain excellent wearability, and are preferred by people sensitive to synthetic fibers.

When you choose to purchase with Affirm, you are able to make your purchase instantly and spread out your payments into smaller monthly portions. This makes a Wovenly rug much more easily affordable for those who may not have a large amount of money to spend at one time.
If you’d like to make a purchase through Affirm follow these simple steps in the loan application process:
- At checkout, select the “Pay With Affirm” option.
- Enter pieces of information about your identity including you name, email, mobile phone number, date of birth, and the last four digits of your social security number. Be sure to use your own information and that it is consistent or you may experience difficulty when attempting to apply for this loan.
- To confirm your identity, Affirm will then send a text message to your mobile phone with a unique authorization code.
- Enter the authorization code into the application form.
- Within moments, you will be notified how much money your loan is approved for, the rate of interest, and the number of months you have to pay off your loan. You’ll also find out the amount of your fixed, monthly payments and the total amount of interest you’ll pay over the course of the loan.
